Minimal session skating as a preteen.

How and why did you get involved in roller derby?
I was sharing with some people that I was really angry as a child and through young adulthood.  Someone came up to me after and asked if I would be interested in playing derby... that I could work out my frustrations on the track.  So I showed up and joined a week later.  I stayed because I love the community.

Since 4/2012 (4 years).

What’s the story behind your derby name?  How did you pick yours?
I love Alice in Wonderland.  Mushrooms.  Talking rabbits and cats.  There is a song called "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane.  Go Ask Alice is in the lyrics... hence the name! Go 'Thrash' Alice when she's 10 feet tall.

My murderous hips flipping out in front of people to stop them like they hit a brick wall (so I've been told).

What do you wish you’d known about derby before you joined?
That I would have so many amazing women in my life.  That I would be stronger than I ever thought.  That it would make my cry.

In what ways has roller derby changed your life?
I love women.  I love helping women see what is awesome about themselves.  I think it has definitely helped soften my hard sharp edges.  It has made me push myself physically.  It has proven time and time again that I am strong and beautiful inside and out.  I have body image issues that are a lot less glaring on the daily.  Camaraderie and sportsmanship.  Compassion and competitiveness.

What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining derby?
Do it.  The only failure is not trying.  It’s amazing and I cannot wait to skate with you!  You are capable of anything.
