She knows…she knows.

How long have you been involved with derby?
Since August of 2016.

How and why did you get involved in roller derby? What’s the story behind your derby name? How did you pick yours? What's the meaning behind your number?
I have suffered from Anxiety and Panic Attacks since I was 16 years old and the older I get the worse it becomes. I needed something to help me deal with the every day stress of being a mother, business owner, and wife and the gym wasn’t doing it for me. Then I found derby.

When I skate I forget about everything else and I am just me. Derby has made me a stronger, better person and I take that new person everywhere I go. So, my name is my tribute to all of the women out there like me who are struggling to find their safe place in the world.

My number is a tribute to my husband for supporting me with my derby career and my never ending quest to be a stronger woman.

What was the easiest move for you to learn? What was the hardest?
Transitions came easily to me. The hardest “move” isn’t really a move but understanding the strategy of blocking.

What is your favorite derby story so far?
OCRD Vitamin C Squad's debut night. I am so proud of everyone on our team. Not only did we win but we had a fantastic time doing it. I look forward to many, many more bouts with my C team.

In what ways has roller derby changed your life?
See story about my name. It is all wrapped up into that.

What one piece of gear would you recommend?
Lysol!

What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining derby?
Do it if you are young. Do it if you are old! Do it if you are scared! Do it if you are not! Then when you do join make it your own journey and your own experience.
