How and why did you get involved in roller derby?
I got involved in derby from watching a bout. I wanted to join because I wanted to be part of an amazing group of strong females.
How long have you been involved with derby?
What’s the story behind your derby name and number? How did you pick yours?
My brother came up with my derby name. My lucky number is 4, double it you get 8. #48
Do you have a signature move?
Hitting a skater out of bounds and skating all the way to the back of the pack to make the skater start over again.
What was the easiest move for you to learn? What was the hardest?
Easiest: T Stop; Hardest: 180 turns going to the right.
What is your favorite derby event during the year?
I don’t have one.
What is your favorite derby story so far?
When I was in Blockwork Orange, and we were skating against team Cruz on the bank track, I made Demanda Riot hit the railing and stopped her in her tracks. No one else could catch her.
What do you wish you’d known about derby before you joined?
I wish I knew the confidence boost I would get from it.
In what ways has roller derby changed your life?
It changed my perspective on me. I could do things I thought I could never do before.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about joining derby?
This will be a part of you until the day you die. This sport is unique, engaging, and most important of all empowering.
