Name:  Shreddie Crüeger
Number: 313
Age: 34

What do you do for the league?
I oversee social media. It’s a lot of fun!

What is your skating position?
Blocker 4 Lyfe. I’m very keen when it comes to the inside line, although I have been practicing brace these days.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Detroit, MI. WOOT WOOT!

What do you do for a living?
I am a Marketing Coordinator for a hair care company called ColorProof Color Care Authority.

What are your favorite hobbies (besides derby)?
I’d have to say my other favorite hobby is BMX.

What are your pre-derby sports, if any?
I did not play any sports before derby. I was a sports noob when I joined.

Did you have any skating experience before joining derby?
I had absolutely no skating experience.

What is a fun fact about you?
I was in a zombie movie with some of my roller derby sisters. It was awesome! We got to kill zombies and puke zombie guts.

Favorite food?
Pizza is like my family.

If you had a secret power, what would it be?
I would want to be able to teleport because A) I hate flying and B) you could travel anywhere in the world with a snap of a finger. You know like “Hey, Let’s go to Spain today!” Snap! *Ends up in Spain.

How and why did you get involved in roller derby?
My old co-worker came into work one day and was bragging about how much fun roller derby was, so I went to a game and instantly fell in love. I wanted to join because I knew this was something that would help me break out of my shell.

How long have you been involved with derby?
A little over 2 years.

What’s the story behind your derby name? How did you pick yours?
The story goes like this…I love horror movies thus the name Shreddie Crueger after the great Freddy Krueger. However, I also love Motley Crue…thus the Crue in Crueger. Shreddie just represents Shredding. It has a lot of meaning to it as you can see. Haha!

What's the meaning behind your number?
My number is my Detroit area code.

What is your favorite derby story so far?
This one-time Shanrock hit me so hard that I literally slide 10 feet on the track on my knee pads and my hands smacked down on the floor making my fake nail pop off (don’t worry it didn’t rip my real nail off). I looked at Shan and said, “You broke my nail b#!@%!” then we started cracking up because who even says that during derby. Needless to say, I never got fake nails again.

In what ways has roller derby changed your life?
I am way less socially awkward. I have more confidence and I am not afraid to speak up. The best part though, are the ladies I skate with every day. They are so uplifting and supportive. They are like my family away from home. When I’m having a rough day and beating myself up, they turn it around and make me feel like I can conquer anything.

What advice do you have for someone new to derby?
DON’T GIVE UP! Derby is hard, and you will fall a lot, but it is very rewarding when you learn a new skill. Don’t compare yourself to other skaters because each person starts at different levels. Just try your best and go at your own pace because derby will always be there for you!
